Minster and Moors Our Easter Holiday in Yorkshire April 2002
It wasn't what were expecting - record temperatures and sunshine in April in Yorkshire. We enjoyed Clifford's Tower and its view over York. Rambling over the moors. Tracing the stream to its source. And we rented a cottage in Whitby. Very pretty. Whitby is sooo bracing, as they say. Playing sandcastles on the beach may be traditional but it was a challenge in the sharp wind. And the Whitby headland is exactly the place where the wind comes in from the North Sea. Great views, if you can keep your feet. The Humber Bridge. Engineering spectacular. Andrew came to visit it under construction in the late 70s. Reminds us of a certain golden bridge somewhere else. And a picnic where the moors end. Great stuff.
